The Kent County Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce its Inaugural Golf Tournament, proudly sponsored by Cross Street Realtors. This highly anticipated event will take place on Monday, June 17th, at the Chester River Yacht and Country Club and is open to all golf enthusiasts in the community. The tournament will feature a scramble format, with registration beginning at 11:00 AM and a shotgun start at noon. Participants will enjoy a day of friendly competition, networking, and fun, with prizes awarded to the top teams and winners of various on-course contests.
The Kent County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that it will be hosting a Post-Legislative Session Breakfast Discussion at Heron Point on April 18th, 2024. The event will provide an invaluable opportunity for community members to engage directly with their elected representatives and gain insights into the recent 2024 Maryland legislative session.

The Kent County Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the recipients of the 2024 Community Excellence Awards held on January 17, 2024 at the Chester River Yacht and Country Club in Chestertown. These awards honor outstanding contributions to our community, through commitment, innovation, and leadership in three distinct categories. Eastern Shore Urgent Care was named the 2024 Business of the Year, Horizons of Kent and Queen Anne’s was awarded the 2024 Organization of the Year, and Deeann Jones was recognized as the 2024 Individual of the Year.
The Maryland Department of Labor is partnering with the Maryland Chamber of Commerce to host a free informational webinar for employers looking for a better understanding of the state’s Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) Program. Department of Labor staff will discuss the planned implementation of this program, cost sharing and total rate of contribution, eligibility, benefit amounts and more. Join us to learn more and gain a better understanding of Maryland’s FAMLI Program.
The local creative community came together for a night of inspiration, collaboration, and networking at the Creatives Collaboration Mixer. Hosted by the Kent County Chamber of Commerce with the Kent Cultural Alliance, and sponsored by The Peoples Bank, the event showcased the immense talent of local creative producers while providing a unique platform for businesses to explore innovative partnerships.

The Kent County Chamber of Commerce held its annual Post-Legislative Session Discussion with legislators from Maryland’s 36th Electoral District on Wednesday, May 3rd, at Heron Point in Chestertown. This year’s session was moderated by Dawson Hunter, Transportation & Housing Coordinator for Kent County Economic and Tourism Development, and member of the Kent County Chamber of Commerce’s Voice of Business Committee.
The Kent County Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Pre-Legislative Session Discussion with legislators from Maryland’s 36th Electoral District on Monday, January 10, 2022, from 8:30 am – 9:30 am. The event will be held virtually on Zoom.
Approximately 1700 guests attended the For All Seasons 2024 Back-to-School Supplies Giveaway and Resource Expo in Idlewild Park – a record attendance for the event. For All Seasons distributed 800 backpacks filled with materials to local students.
Returning to school after a long summer break can be a stressful time for students, whether it's a child’s first day of kindergarten, a transition to middle or high school, or just the end of the freedoms of summer. It's normal for children to feel anxious about these changes. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) recommends the following to help ease children’s worries as they transition back to school.
Kent County Public Schools will be holding another session of its commercial driver’s license (CDL) permit training program this fall for those interested in becoming bus drivers.
Compass will be offering their three-day training session for any individuals interested in becoming a patient care volunteer. The training session is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. October 4, 11, and 18th. The training will be held at our Barnette Center's Conference room located at 255 Comet Dr. Centreville, MD 21617.
Maryland Capital Enterprises Women's Business Center (WBC) is excited to announce a series of free business webinars this September, designed to empower entrepreneurs and small business owners with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed. These interactive sessions will be led by industry experts and cover a range of topics essential for business growth and sustainability.
Benedictine has welcomed four new members to its Board of Directors - Candace Chiaruttini, Bruce T. Miller, Susan O’Neill and Larry Porter. “We are thrilled to add these talented individuals to our team,” commented Benedictine Executive Director Scott Evans. “Each brings a unique set of skills that will enhance Benedictine’s mission to support children and adults living with intellectual and developmental disabilities so they can achieve their greatest potential.”
Maryland Capital Enterprises (MCE) announces the opening of nominations for the 2024 Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. This prestigious event celebrates the outstanding achievements and dedication of local entrepreneurs who contribute significantly to the economy and community on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
Stella Marinas announced today its acquisition of Swan Creek Marina & Boatyard (SCM), located in the charming town of Rock Hall on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Situated on a well-protected harbor with immediate access to the open Chesapeake, the marina includes 113 wet slips, 22 moorings, two single family homes, and a full service boat yard.
After more than a decade with UM Shore Regional Health (UM SRH), William Huffner, MD, MBA, FACEP, FACHE, who served during this time as Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs, retired at the end of June. Dr. Huffner’s time with UM SRH was marked by many changes for the hospital system, including the integration of two hospitals and medical staffs, growing the provider network now known as University of Maryland Shore Medical Group, and opening two medical pavilions and a freestanding emergency center. In 2020, he led the health care network through the COVID-19 pandemic as regional incident commander.
Mid Shore Behavioral Health, Inc. (MSBH), in collaboration with the health departments of Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s, and Talbot Counties, is proud to announce the fifth annual “The Mid-Shore is Going Purple Together” event. Scheduled for Saturday, September 14th, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at James T. Park in Caroline County, Going Purple Together (GPT) offers a day of community unity with food, raffle items, music, games, and a focus on supporting recovery from substance misuse. Jessica Tuel, Director of Behavioral Health for the Caroline County Local Addiction Authority stated, "I am very excited for this event to be in Caroline County for the community and the professionals that are in this work. Both are doing wonderful things to end the substance use epidemic in our small county."
