The Kent County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to recognize John Carroll for his outstanding contributions to the Kent Chamber Board of Directors and the Kent County community. Having completed two successive terms, the tenure of Carroll is marked with a long list of accomplishments.

“John is one of those people who steps up to make things happen,” said Barbara Foster, President of the Kent County Chamber of Commerce. “His ‘can-do’ spirit motivated his fellow board members to represent the business community in more creative and meaningful ways. He will be missed on the Chamber’s leadership team.”

John Carroll is the founder, owner, and broker at Village Real Estate Company—a Galena-based real estate brokerage he founded in 2009 after being a licensed realtor since 2004. “I chose to open my own brokerage because of the flexibility it allowed me to expand my business further and chose the Town of Galena for its simple pleasant quality of life as well as access to other markets and regions outside of Kent County.”

Carroll became involved with the Kent County Chamber of Commerce in 2012 when he was awarded the Business Leader of the Year Award by the Kent Chamber. His tenure on the board of directors began in 2015. “I thoroughly enjoyed working to promote our Kent County businesses and assist new members expand their businesses through networking and business development activities. Although I may no longer serve on the Board, I look forward to continuing to assist businesses in my own town and across Kent County, says Carroll.”

In addition to owning and operating his own real estate brokerage, Carroll was elected to the Galena Town Council in 2013, and Galena Mayor in 2017—he is currently serving his second term as mayor. In June 2019, Carroll was elected President of the Maryland Mayor Association, a sub-association of the Maryland Municipal League.

“John will be missed on the Kent Chamber Board of Directors,” says Sam Shoge, Kent Chamber executive director. “He brought the perfect combination of strengths and skillsets to the board that helped lay the foundation for the growth that the organization is currently experiencing.”
