August 2021 Kent Chamber Update

Greetings to our valued Chamber members.

As August comes to a close, I can’t help but wonder where the summer went! Between our last update in June and now, the Chamber has been focused on continuing the momentum the past year brought us with regards to launching new member benefits, refreshing our brand image, and setting the stage for a renewed focus on what we do best—in-person events. I am excited to present an overview of what the Chamber has been doing in our community on behalf of our members.

Released Newly Designed Map

Our friends at Mullin/Ashley outdid themselves again by doing a phenomenal job redesigning our Street Map of Kent County. An annual fundraiser for the Chamber, the Map Project helps fill in the gap of publications we have that provides an overview of the County by providing a means for visitors to orient themselves around our beautiful county. This publication also presents members with a great opportunity to advertise and “put their business on the map.” We have printed and delivered nearly two thousand maps throughout Kent County and the region and are only halfway through our annual cycle.

Business Anniversary Citations

We were pleased to present two member businesses with citations of recognition for celebrating business anniversary milestones. The Kent Chamber along with Kent County Economic and Tourism Development presented The Peoples Bank with a citation of recognition for celebrating 110 years in business. We then joined Eastman in Worton as they were presented with an official citation of celebration from the Maryland Department of Commerce for celebrating 35 years in business. Congratulations to them both for their success.

Business After Hours Mixer

We were thrilled to have our first Business After Hours Mixer at Chesapeake Bank! This was our first mixer in 2021 and the first mixer I’ve had the pleasure of scheduling since assuming the executive directorship back in April 2020. The event attracted 40 business and community leaders to network, enjoy each other’s company, and make valuable business connections. Mixers are one of the best ways to leverage your chamber membership.

Thank you to our Bronze Sponsor Chesapeake Bank for kicking us off. Our next mixer is scheduled for Thursday, September 16 at Optimal Health Care, Inc.

September is shaping up to be one of the most action-packed months for the Kent Chamber so monitor your emails from us closely because we will have some big announcements to make.

In service,
