Greetings and happy summer to our valued chamber members.

This past weekend brought a lot to celebrate. On June 19th, Juneteenth was observed as a national holiday for the first time and the Summer Solstice occurred the very next day on June 20, marking the very first day of summer.

In the spirit of celebration, the Chamber is excited to announce the newest way we will be celebrating the success of our members and businesses here in Kent County—Business Anniversary Citations of Recognition.

Owning and operating a business—especially over a number of years—is hard work. in fact, according to a report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 1 in 5 businesses fail within the first year. By the end of the fifth year, 1 in 2 has faltered. Businesses that are able to keep the lights on and serve our community year after year deserve to be recognized.

To that end, we’ve partnered with Kent County Economic and Tourism Development to offer businesses celebrating anniversaries ending in either 0 or 5 (e.g. 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, etc) an official citation of recognition*.

If you operate a business and are celebrating an anniversary this year, let us know today—we’d be delighted to celebrate your success by presenting you with an official Kent County Chamber of Commerce citation.
